Thanks to Obama Care (or the Affordable Healthcare Act) in the United States, you are allowed a FREE breast pump through your insurance.
What Do You Need to Do?
You’ll need to contact your insurance provider to find out details about breastpumps. You will want to ask which pumps they’ll cover and which medical supply store (or website) they work with to get your breast pump. Once you have found out that information, you can contact your doctor’s office and have them send an order for a double electric breast pump to that medical supply store. You’ll want to make sure it’s double, though, to save yourself some significant time and effort.
Some insurance companies will even allow you to receive your pump before you deliver baby. While others require that you deliver before you can receive your pump.
If you look at Target or Walmart, the typical double electric breast pump costs you anywhere from $100-200 each. This means that it’s totally worth it to contact your insurance.
