Disclosures & Disclaimers

The Lactation Collection
Updated June 2026

This page provides important disclosures and disclaimers for The Lactation Collection, a DBA name of Prenatal Insights, LLC (“The Lactation Collection,” “Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By using this website, reading our educational materials, interacting with our social media content, participating in classes or support groups, or receiving services from The Lactation Collection, you acknowledge and agree to the disclosures below.

Medical, Lactation, and Educational Information Disclaimer

The information provided on this website, in blog posts, handouts, classes, social media content, emails, videos, and other educational materials is for general informational and educational purposes only. It is not a substitute for individualized medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, emergency care, or care from your own healthcare provider.

Reading information on this website, submitting a contact form, sending a message, following social media content, attending a general class, or participating in general educational content does not create a provider-patient relationship, clinician-client relationship, or duty to diagnose, treat, monitor, or follow up.

A provider-patient or clinical care relationship is created only when you schedule and receive services from The Lactation Collection or one of its approved providers, complete required consent/intake forms, and the provider agrees to provide care.

Lactation, infant feeding, women’s health, gynecologic, pregnancy, postpartum, hormone, contraception, medication, lab, and primary care information is individualized. You should consult your baby’s pediatric provider, your obstetric provider, midwife, primary care provider, or another qualified healthcare professional for medical concerns, diagnosis, treatment, prescriptions, or urgent/emergent symptoms. Except as expressly stated, information on this website is not medical advice.

Licensed Medical Services Disclaimer

Some services offered by The Lactation Collection or related Prenatal Insights, LLC service lines may be provided by a licensed Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM), Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner-Board Certified (WHNP-BC), Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), or other licensed healthcare provider.

When services are provided by a licensed medical provider within an established provider-patient relationship, those services may include evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, counseling, ordering or reviewing labs, prescribing medications, prescribing devices or supplies, referrals, follow-up care, and other services within the provider’s education, certification, licensure, scope of practice, applicable law, and professional judgment.

Medical services are available only when specifically scheduled, consented to, and provided by an appropriately licensed provider. The availability of medical services may vary by provider, location, service line, visit type, payer requirements, and applicable law.

Nothing on this website should be interpreted as a guarantee that any specific medication, prescription, lab order, diagnosis, treatment, referral, procedure, supplement, device, or service will be provided. Clinical decisions are made by the licensed provider based on assessment, history, risks, benefits, scope of practice, applicable law, and clinical appropriateness.

IBCLC and Lactation Scope of Practice Disclaimer

The Lactation Collection provides lactation education, assessment, care planning, counseling, and support within the scope of practice of an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) or other approved lactation provider.

IBCLC services alone are not a substitute for medical care. IBCLCs who are not separately licensed medical providers do not diagnose medical conditions, prescribe medications, independently treat medical conditions outside their scope, alter a medical provider’s treatment plan, or represent themselves as physicians, nurse practitioners, certified nurse-midwives, or other licensed medical providers.

Some The Lactation Collection providers may hold both IBCLC certification and additional medical licenses or credentials, such as CNM, WHNP-BC, APRN, RN, SLP, OT, PT, RD, or other credentials. A provider’s ability to provide medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, prescriptions, lab orders, or other licensed services depends on that provider’s individual license, approved services, visit type, applicable law, payer requirements, liability coverage, and clinical judgment.

If your lactation consultant identifies symptoms, assessment findings, or concerns that may require medical evaluation or treatment, you may be referred to an appropriate healthcare provider.

Emergency and Urgent Care Disclaimer

The Lactation Collection does not provide emergency medical care.

Secure messages, emails, texts, phone calls, website forms, social media messages, and other communications are not monitored for emergencies or urgent medical concerns. If you or your baby has an urgent or emergent concern, call 911, go to the nearest emergency department, or contact your or your baby’s medical provider.

The Lactation Collection is not responsible for providing urgent or emergent care outside of scheduled consultations.

Telehealth Disclaimer

The Lactation Collection may offer virtual lactation consultations, medical visits, classes, or support through Company-approved telehealth platforms. Telehealth may include limitations, including technology issues, privacy risks, connection problems, and limitations in physical assessment.

Telehealth may not be appropriate for every lactation, feeding, infant, pregnancy, postpartum, gynecologic, hormone, medication, lab, or medical concern. The Lactation Collection may recommend an in-person visit, laboratory testing, imaging, referral, urgent care, emergency care, or evaluation by another healthcare provider when appropriate.

Medical and lactation services provided by telehealth may be limited by state licensure requirements, payer requirements, clinical appropriateness, and applicable law.

Prescriptions, Labs, and Treatment Disclaimer

When provided by a licensed medical provider within an established provider-patient relationship, The Lactation Collection or related Prenatal Insights, LLC service lines may offer services that include diagnosis, treatment recommendations, lab orders, lab review, medication counseling, prescriptions, referrals, and follow-up care.

Prescriptions, lab orders, medication changes, treatment plans, or referrals are never guaranteed. A provider may decline to prescribe a medication, order a lab, provide a treatment, or continue a medication if it is not clinically appropriate, outside the provider’s scope, outside applicable law, not supported by available information, or requires a higher level of care.

Clients are responsible for informing the provider of all relevant medical history, medications, allergies, supplements, pregnancy or postpartum status, infant feeding status, medical conditions, prior lab results, and other information that may affect care. Clients are also responsible for following up with recommended labs, referrals, follow-up visits, urgent evaluation, or emergency care when advised.

No Guarantee of Outcomes

The Lactation Collection cannot guarantee any specific breastfeeding, pumping, milk supply, infant feeding, latch, pain, weight gain, bottle-feeding, weaning, pregnancy, postpartum, gynecologic, hormone, fertility, contraceptive, medication, lab, wellness, weight, or health outcome.

Care is individualized and outcomes may depend on many factors, including parent and infant health, anatomy, birth history, medical conditions, feeding frequency, milk supply, infant oral function, medication response, lab results, follow-through with the care plan, access to follow-up care, and other circumstances outside our control.

Any care plan, recommendation, prescription, lab order, class, support group, handout, or educational resource is intended to support informed decision-making and individualized care, but no outcome is promised or guaranteed.

Payment, Insurance, and Reimbursement Disclaimer

Insurance coverage is not guaranteed. The Lactation Collection may bill certain eligible insurance plans through The Lactation Network, Wildflower Health, and/or DMBA when eligibility requirements are met and all required forms and information are completed.

Coverage for lactation services, medical visits, labs, prescriptions, procedures, supplies, classes, telehealth, follow-up support, or other services may vary by payer, plan, provider type, visit type, diagnosis, service location, and eligibility requirements.

Clients are responsible for verifying their own insurance benefits, coverage limits, copays, deductibles, coinsurance, visit limits, and plan-specific requirements. The Lactation Collection cannot guarantee claim approval, reimbursement, number of covered visits, payer payment, or the absence of client financial responsibility.

Payment, insurance billing, eligibility verification, claim denials, copays, deductibles, coinsurance, cancellation fees, late fees, travel fees, urgent/same-day fees, weekend or holiday fees, multiples fees, continued support fees, refunds, and reimbursement are governed by the current Payment, Insurance, and Financial Responsibility Policy, booking terms, Consent for Care, or other applicable client-facing financial agreement.

Testimonials and Client Experiences

Testimonials, reviews, comments, stories, or shared experiences reflect individual experiences only. They do not guarantee any particular breastfeeding, pumping, milk supply, infant feeding, latch, pain, weight gain, weaning, pregnancy, postpartum, gynecologic, hormone, fertility, contraceptive, medication, lab, wellness, weight, emotional, financial, or clinical outcome.

Testimonials or reviews may be edited for length, clarity, grammar, or privacy. The Lactation Collection does not publish client names, images, stories, testimonials, case details, photographs, videos, screenshots, messages, or other identifying information for marketing, social media, education, case studies, presentations, or research without appropriate written authorization.

Clients are responsible for deciding whether a product is appropriate for their needs and should consult a healthcare provider when needed.

The Lactation Collection may mention, recommend, link to, refer to, or provide information about third-party products, providers, laboratories, pharmacies, websites, services, apps, or resources. These references are provided for convenience, education, care coordination, or client support only.

The Lactation Collection does not control third-party websites, products, services, labs, pharmacies, pricing, availability, privacy practices, policies, insurance coverage, turnaround times, or outcomes. A referral, link, product mention, lab order, or pharmacy transmission does not guarantee quality, safety, effectiveness, insurance coverage, availability, cost, timing, or results.

The Lactation Collection’s social media accounts are for general education, community connection, and marketing purposes only. Social media content is not individualized lactation care, medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, prescription guidance, emergency advice, or a substitute for a consultation.
