Introduction to the IBCLC mentorship program
At The Lactation Collection, we are dedicated to nurturing the next generation of International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs).
Our mentorship program offers aspiring IBCLCs a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience while providing valuable support to breastfeeding mamas.
We encourage you to consider participating in our mentorship program, whether as a client or as a mentee. Your involvement not only supports the growth of future IBCLCs but also enriches the breastfeeding community as a whole. Together, we can create a nurturing and empowering environment for all mamas.
What clients can expect
As a client, you have the choice to allow our mentees to attend your in-person or remote consultations.
Our mentees come from diverse backgrounds, including human development, nutrition, and diet. This variety enhances the support you receive, as they bring unique perspectives and insights to your breastfeeding journey.
You can feel confident knowing that our mentees are here to learn and support you while working under the guidance of experienced IBCLCs.
What mentees can expect
Our program helps aspiring IBCLCs accumulate the hours required for certification through Pathway 3.
As a mentee, you will receive comprehensive training through practical experiences designed to prepare you for your future role as an IBCLC.
You will have the opportunity to attend both in-home and remote consultations, allowing you to observe and engage in real-life scenarios. Mentees will also assist with our breastfeeding support groups and classes.

I did many of my clinical hours for pathway 3 with The Lactation Collection – I loved being a mentee with them and learned so much from their team! It was so helpful to observe and then teach their prenatal breastfeeding classes, follow their IBCLCs during in-home visits, and just see how a practice runs! I feel confident working with latching difficulty, low supply, premature infants, post-frenectomy care, and so much more.
They are a fantastic group of ladies that took me under their wing and shared all the ins and outs of the specialty to ensure I could be a competent practitioner.
