Using a pump can be a great resource when breastfeeding, whether you use it occasionally or full-time. Did you know that you can get a breast pump for free?! Read more to learn how.
Thanks to Obama Care (or the Affordable Healthcare Act) in the United States, you are allowed a FREE breast pump through your insurance.
What Do You Need to Do?
Youโll need to contact your insurance provider to find out details about breastpumps. You will want to ask which pumps theyโll cover and which medical supply store (or website) they work with to get your breast pump. Once you have found out that information, you can contact your doctorโs office and have them send an order for a double electric breast pump to that medical supply store. Youโll want to make sure itโs double, though, to save yourself some significant time and effort.
Some insurance companies will even allow you to receive your pump before you deliver baby. While others require that you deliver before you can receive your pump.
If you look at Target or Walmart, the typical double electric breast pump costs you anywhere from $100-200 each. This means that itโs totally worth it to contact your insurance.
Want an Even Easier Way?
You can go to Aeroflow Breastpumps to find out if your insurance will cover a breastpump through them. They offer various pumps, including Medela, Ameda, Spectra, Lansinoh, and more. You put in your information, your insurance information, and your doctor’s information and they do the rest.
The best thing about Aeroflow is that they will ship the pump directly to you; and follow up every three months to send new pump parts, covered by your insurance. This makes it easy on you, and you need every win you can get with a baby on the way!
I loved using Aeroflow Breastpumps when I was pregnant with my twins. It is easy to use, and I loved all of the options they had for breast pumps and accessories. They do all of the hard work and then send you a list of pumps covered by your insurance. They will also send a list of upgrades along with the costs, above what your insurance covers.
I was able to get a Spectra S2 and pay about $20 to get a pumping bag with it.
Be sure to apply for a free breast pump through Aeroflow to determine if your insurance will cover one through them. If they donโt, then contact your insurance to see how and if you qualify.
Happy pumping!
